Week 15 Review

I enjoy hearing poetry and art in languages I am not familiar with. To me it sounds much better in the language it was originally made in. If Omar Khayam's poetry was in English the flow of the words would not be correct. To me, I believe that everything should be heard in its original prose. This is not to say that translations are not useful. They help reach a wider audience, so that the artform can be appreciated by all.  Lonely Dinosaurs

Week 15: Famous Last Words The End

Image
Here we are. The last week of the semester. This semester has been hectic. Every week has given us a new problem to tackle. It might relate to school or even life in general. However, the important part is that we have made it to the end! I have thoroughly enjoyed this class. It has forced me to be creative in a good way. I have also learned a lot about my own culture which was my intention when I enrolled. Overall, I enjoyed this semester very much! El Fin

I love Google. Well Google Chrome anyway. It is very useful to have everything consolidated and Google does all that for you. I find that Google Calendar is really helpful as you can put everything on there and it is very easy to check it on your phone as well. It is as simple as checking your email and you can do it while you're checking your email too! Google Calendar Example

Microfiction Revision: Touchdown in Rome

Image
The plane touched down at around 10 AM, but back home it would only be 3 AM. But I wasn't tired. I had just landed in Rome and as I got my luggage I went out to look for my ride.  "Rohit! Over here! Right here!" I heard people calling my name. I looked around quickly to see where the voices were coming from and spotted my two cousins waving frantically to get my attention.  I went over and hugged my cousins who I hadn't seen in almost three years! And just like that we were ready to start out adventures throughout Italy's cities. Rome Author's Note: For this revision process I tried to add more detail with slight changes in wording. I added contractions where appropriate so that I could add in the words.

Bibliography: 6 Yoga Exercises You Won’t Be Embarrassed to Do at Your Desk by Linda Steinberg I enjoyed reading this article as many of us have been glued to our desks recently to study or work. It is important that we make sure our bodies have a rest from the work that we put them through. My dad practices yoga every morning and he has tried to get me into it as well, but I could never get into it. However, now that I understand how our bodies work I have realized how imperative stretching really is. My favorite stretch from the six was the open chair stretch which really focuses on the chest.  Open Chair Stretch

Reading Notes: Fables of Bidpai Part B

Image
Bibliography:  The Tortoise and the Geese and Other Fables of Bidpai  by Maude Dutton (1908) The Lean Cat and the Fat Cat Once there was a lean cat who never had food to eat. One day, he sees one of his friends who has gotten fat off food from the king's table. His friend says he will take him to eat from the king's table. However, the king made a decree that no cats were entered inside. Every other cat ran away, but the lean-greedy cat did not care and ran onto the table. Here he was caught by the cook and killed.  The moral of the story is to always be content with what you have.  A King had a prized falcon which he always took with him to hunt. Once, while he was hunting, he was separated from his hunting party while pursuing a deer. After the long ride the King was thirsty and found a stream to drink from. While the King was trying to collect water his falcon continously knocked it out of his hand making the King angry. The King became so angry that he thre...

Reading Notes: Fables of Bidpai Part A

Bibliography:  The Tortoise and the Geese and Other Fables of Bidpai by Maude Dutton (1908) Illustration by Boyd Smith A Gardener who lived by himself was lonely and wanted a companion. As he looked for someone to talk to he met a bear who was also lonely. They quickly became friends and the Gardener would feed the bear while the bear keeps flies off the Gardener while he sleeps. One day, while the Gardener was sleeping a fly was hopping around him and the bear started to get angry and threw a large stone at the fly and it killed the fly and the Gardener. This shows that it is better to have a wise enemy than a foolish friend. A Hunter places a snare for a Fox, but the Fox is clever and does not fall for it. However, a Leopard comes along and falls into the trap. The Hunter hears all the noise it made and jumps into the hole after it thinking it's the Fox, but the it is the Leopard who kills the Hunter instead. A Rich Man, who is also very stingy, buys wood from poor woodcutters f...
